World famous climbing guild – mountain guides in Val Gardena/Gröden |

In the beginning the “Catores” were the mountain rescue team of the Val Gardena/Gröden. They have been since 1898 and still are. But the Catores (Rock partridges) are also a famous climbing guild, a group of excellent mountaineers who have repeatedly reached big aims in the Alps and on the mountains of the world. During the time the mountain faces of the Dolomites were first climbed and opened up, the Catores stood in direct competition with the “Scoiattoli” (squirrels) in Cortina. Exceptional skill, enormous courage and the willpower to overcome greatest difficulties have characterised the Catores till today. The Catores are not only qualified and experienced rescuers, but also fantastic mountain guides.
