Apples from South Tyrol – a crunchy delight |
| |
| If the harvest goes well, South Tyrol could provide every German citizen with an apple. Italian kids would even get two if the about 950,000 tons of apples picked in South Tyrol went south. 8,000 fruit farmers put all their passion and love into the cultivation of an area of almost 20.000 hectare. They even cover their fields with nets so that the much-feared hail does not damage their fruits in the early summer. 300 sunny days are also one of the reasons why the South Tyrolean apples have become an export hit. |
